About EN8M bright bars
EN8M is a re-sulphurised version of EN8. Added sulphur and higher manganese form manganese sulphide inclusions that break chips short — so parts that need medium carbon strength can still be produced at free-cutting speeds.

Applications
- Turned shafts and spindles for motors, pumps and fans
- Pins, studs and high-volume automotive components
- Hydraulic and pneumatic piston rods (before chroming)
- Any EN8-strength part where cycle time matters
Frequently asked questions
What is EN8M?
A re-sulphurised, free-machining version of EN8 medium carbon steel — similar strength, much faster turning.
Can EN8M be welded?
The high sulphur makes EN8M unsuitable for welding. If the part must be welded, use EN8D / 1045.
